1935 Central School "A" Hockey TeamSports

An article in the Guelph Mercury on July 23, 1996 mentions that "some of Canada's first Black baseball players are resting in Woodlawn Cemetery, located at Woodlawn Road and Woolwich Street".

These players are "Hap" Lawson, Danny Johnson, Johnny Duncan, and Frank Mallot. A photo of the Maple Leaf Baseball Club in Guelph shows one Black member (1894). Another photo, this one of the Central School "A" Hockey Team, shows a young Black player.
