The Story of John McCrae

About David McCrae

David McCrae seems to have had two main interests ... the military and agriculture.

His love of agriculture led him to sell the family woolen mill business and concentrate his efforts on the family farm, Janefield. His (and his father's) skill in breeding Galloway cattle led to an international reputation for quality stock-breeding. David McCrae is said to have been involved, to a certain extent, with the founding of the Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph.

David also commanded the local militia and in 1915 at the age of 70 recruited the 43rd Battery. He took this battery to England in 1916 but was not allowed to go to France with them.
